Getting the scaffolding assembled.
Getting tools and supplies up onto the second story worksite is a challenge.
The footings and piers we are building are for a large ramp to access the second story. This is not like a worksite in the US. There are very few power tools. The hand tools are often very old or hand made.
The blue paint we are using on the orange steel beams is actually a protective coating to prevent rust and oxidation. This building will be all steel and concrete when it is finished.
The ground is all rock and clay. All of the footing have been dug by hand.
This was a constant sight all day long. A row of people, each stationed in front of a concrete beam, slowly chipping away the smooth surface with a variety of tools. A hammer, a chisel, a small axe, and even a rail road spike.
The power duo. These two men were the muscles that moved mountains. Mountains of concrete, that is! They were sore by the end of the day, but they kept on going.
It took some acrobatic feats to reach some of the beams to paint them. Having long legs was a plus!
Great pics, cool to see how far it's come from last year! Looks like you're all working hard!
