Good Morning,
Wildwood!!
Your Costa Rica team
began its journey yesterday at ‘Beyond the Walls.’ This blog will share with
you what we discover about God and how God meets us where we are in our lives
with His grace and with His calling.
Fourteen of us will
be journeying to Costa Rica from July 12-20, 2014 this year. We will be putting
a second floor on the existing building of Peniel Methodist Church in Nicoya,
Costa Rica. The congregation has grown
and they need more space for Sunday School and other small groups. We will also
be facilitating a Vacation Bible School for the children of the church and
community.
Yesterday, we
journeyed to The Dream Center in Conroe. The Dream Center is a place of healing
for families in Montgomery County. God met us there.
Walls. Walls to prime
and to paint. Walls to heal. Walls to tear down. Walls to build anew. Walls
came down yesterday.
Walls fell when the
directors and the residents of the Dream Center asked us to come and worship
with them. God met us there. We praised
God with our voices, with our prayers of adoration, and with our hearts as we
heard one of the directors speak from her heart as to God’s work in her life. God met us with what we needed to hear.
Walls fell when the
team from Wildwood, many of who didn’t know each other, allowed God to use us
and to begin forming us into the team He is calling us to be. God met us gently laying aside the walls of
shyness and uncertainty that were present in our hearts and minds, building the
new walls of teamwork, friendship, and grace that will sustain us throughout
our journey.
God has great
blessings to share with each of us, to share with the people of Nicoya, and to
share with the people of Wildwood UMC as we journey together to Costa Rica. Walls were painted and primed. Walls fell
away. New walls colored with God’s grace
began to be built.
Wildwood, what walls
need to come down in your life? What walls need God’s gracious, repairing
touch? What walls does God need to build
anew for you?
God will meet you
where you need God most. Expect Him.
Shalom.

Yes, we can be serious sometimes!
Ahren made a cross out of flooring material to represent Christ working through our hands and feet.
We were able to join the residents of The Dream Center in their worship service. It contained a special message for all of us to let it go and allow God to lead our way.
